Copying your photos to another computer

There are 2 ways to copy/restore your pictures to your computer, or a new/different computer.


Copy all Picture Keeper photos to a new computer

  1. Plug in the Picture Keeper.

  2. Start the Picture Keeper program as directed in the instruction booklet.

  3. Click the Restore Backups button.

  4. Pictures are restored to a folder in your Pictures Library.

  5. It is called PK Restore. Open the folder and continue to open folders to find your pictures.

  6. Pictures can be copied from here to the root directory of the Pictures Library.

Windows

Copy only specific pictures/folders from the Picture Keeper to the new computer: 

Plug in the Picture Keeper.

  1. Display the files as shown but do not start the program.

  2. Double click to open the Backups folder.

  3. Double click to open the name of your computer.

  4. Double click to open Drive C.

  5. Double click to open User.

  6. Double click to open your name.

  7. You may need to open a couple more folders.

  8. Double click to open Pictures.

  9. From here you can open your picture folders and copy pictures to another disk or computer

Mac:

Most Mac users have iPhoto or Photos as the organizer.

  1. Plug in the Picture Keeper. You do not need to start the program.

  2. Open Photos/iPhoto

  3. In the Menu for iPhoto/Photo, near the Apple log, click File.

  4. Click Import.

  5. In the window that opens find and click PKBackup in the Side Bar under devices. Left part of window.

  6. This display the files of the Picture Keeper.

  7. Click the Backup folder to open.

  8. You should see the name of your Mac. Click the Name of the Mac.

  9. Click Review for Import at the bottom right corner.

Copy only specific pictures/folders from the Picture Keeper to the new computer:


  1. Display the files as shown but do not start the program.

  2. Double click to open the Backups folder.

  3. Double click to open the name of your Mac.

  4. Double click to open Photos/iPhoto.

  5. Double click to open Events or Albums.

  6. From here you can copy pictures to another disk or computer
